Custom fields and forms by trade

Ideas for the custom fields, checklists and saved views different trades set up in Homeforce.

Every trade tracks different details. Here's how contractors in each trade typically use custom fields, forms and checklists and saved list views. These are suggestions; set up only what your team will actually fill in.

HVAC & plumbing

  • Equipment first. Equipment on a customer's property already has built-in fields for Type, Brand, Model, Serial, Capacity, Installed, Warranty expires and Location. Use those before adding your own.
  • Job fields: a Dropdown for refrigerant type, a Text field for permit number, a Date for permit inspection.
  • Customer fields: a Text field for gate or lockbox code, a Checkbox for "Pets on site".
  • Forms: a maintenance checklist on your tune-up job type, with Number readings (static pressure in "inWC", supply and return temps in "°F") and Pass / Fail items for safety checks. Add a Photo item for the data plate.

Electrical

  • Job fields: permit number, panel size (Number, amps), service type (Dropdown: Overhead, Underground).
  • Forms: a panel inspection checklist with Pass / Fail items and a Photo of the finished panel. Mark the safety items Required.

Painting

  • Estimate fields: a Number for square footage, a Dropdown for sheen, a Text field for color codes.
  • Job fields: paint brand and color (Text), a Checkbox for "Customer approved color sample".
  • Forms: a final walkthrough checklist so the crew confirms touch-ups and cleanup before leaving.

Roofing

  • Lead and estimate fields: roof type (Dropdown: Shingle, Tile, Metal, Flat), roof squares (Number), pitch (Text), and a File field on the estimate for the measurement report.
  • Job fields: permit number, insurance claim number, a Checkbox for "HOA approval received".
  • Saved view: jobs where "HOA approval received" is no, shared with the office.

Remodeling & restoration

  • Job fields: claim number and adjuster name for insurance work, a Date for permit expiry, a File field for the signed scope.
  • Forms: a moisture-reading checklist with Number readings for restoration, or a pre-drywall checklist for remodels.

Landscaping, lawn, pool & pest (recurring routes)

  • Customer fields: gate code, a Checkbox for "Dog in yard", lot size (Number).
  • Forms: a short route checklist on your recurring service job type (chemicals applied, Number readings for pool chlorine and pH). Keep it short; techs fill it out many times a day.
  • Saved view: customers filtered by a service-area custom field, so a crew lead can see their route.

Cleaning

  • Customer fields: entry instructions, alarm code, a Dropdown for preferred products.
  • Forms: a room-by-room checklist with Checkbox items and a Photo of the finished kitchen.
