Getting started by trade

How HVAC, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, remodeling, outdoor and cleaning companies usually set up Homeforce.

The setup questions shape Homeforce around your trade. Your Main service and the kind of work you check decide your job types, which sidebar group comes first, and what Home shows. Here's how different trades usually answer and what to set up first.

HVAC & plumbing

  • Kind of work: Quick service calls, often plus Multi-day jobs for installs.
  • Your sidebar leads with Sales and Dispatch, built around arrival windows.
  • Set up first: your pricebook (import it, or start from the AI starter pricebook), payments, and techs on the board.
  • Then add maintenance plans under Memberships so tune-ups recur. See Memberships.

Electrical

  • Kind of work: Quick service calls, plus Multi-week projects if you do new construction or remodels.
  • With both checked, your sidebar shows Jobs & Projects. Service calls book in windows; bigger jobs become projects.
  • Set up first: pricebook and good / better / best estimates for panel and EV charger upgrades.

Painting

  • Kind of work: Multi-day jobs (a crew for a day or a few). Pick Mostly this so the crew board leads Operations.
  • Painting companies also get the Weather page for outdoor work.
  • Set up first: crews, a deposit on estimates, and your estimate terms.

Roofing

  • Kind of work: Multi-day jobs, or Multi-week projects for large re-roofs.
  • You get the crew board and Weather so rain days are flagged before the crew rolls.
  • Set up first: crews, subcontractors (with insurance dates), deposits and financing.

Remodeling & restoration

  • Kind of work: Multi-week projects. Pick Mostly this and Projects leads your sidebar.
  • Projects add phases, budgets, change orders, daily logs and progress billing. See Jobs vs projects.
  • Set up first: crews, subcontractors, and contract terms for estimates.

Landscaping, lawn, pool & pest (recurring routes)

  • Kind of work: Quick service calls. Most of your revenue repeats, so memberships matter most.
  • Set up first: membership plans for recurring visits, your service area ZIP codes, and online booking.

Cleaning

  • Kind of work: Quick service calls (home cleaning, carpet and window cleaning).
  • Set up first: job types with the right length for each clean, online booking, and memberships for repeat clients.
