Mobile app workflows by trade

How an HVAC tech, an electrician, a painting crew lead, a roofer, a remodeler, a lawn or pool route tech and a cleaner use the Homeforce app day to day.

Every trade uses the same app, but the day looks different. What changes is mostly how your office sets up job types: quick service calls, multi-day crew jobs, or projects with phases.

HVAC & plumbing

A typical day is four to six service calls, each its own stop on Today.

  • Before you go, check Equipment on the visit. Brand, model and age tell you what you're walking into.
  • Tap On my way so the customer gets your ETA text, then work the tune-up or repair checklist your office set up.
  • Look for Member next to the customer's name. Members are usually on a maintenance plan, so mention it if a repair is coming.
  • Repairs: build the estimate from the pricebook on the Estimate tab, send it, and once it's approved tap Invoice from estimate #. Collect with Take card payment before you leave.
  • System replacements are usually quoted with good, better, best options on the web by a comfort advisor, then installed as a crew job.

Electrical

Most work is service calls handled the same way as HVAC. Panel upgrades often run as a full-day crew job: everyone on the crew sees the same visit, and one tap of On my way or Complete visit updates it for the whole crew. Use Before and After photos to document the panel and any permit-related work for the office.

Painting

A painting crew lead usually works projects: an interior or exterior repaint with one visit per crew day.

  • Each morning, open that day's visit, tap I've arrived, and clock in from the + button.
  • Take Before, During and After photos. They attach to the project, so the office and the customer can see progress. In the browser Tech app, you can also tag photos to a phase.
  • Add a note for the office when the customer changes colors or adds a room, so the office can write a change order.
  • Daily logs and progress billing are done on the web.

Roofing

Inspections are short visits where the sales rep takes photos and builds an estimate on site. Re-roofs run as crew jobs over several days. If your company turns on weather rules, the office may push a day for rain, so pull down on Today each morning for the latest.

Remodeling & restoration

Work is mostly projects with phases. Crew leads and project managers use the app for the day's visit, photos, notes and the homeowner's sign-off. Budgets, change orders, punch lists and progress billing stay on the web.

Landscaping, lawn, pool & pest (recurring routes)

Route techs run many short stops a day, often for customers on a recurring plan.

  • Today lists your stops in order with stop numbers. Use Navigate between them, or the + button's Next stop.
  • Keep each stop quick: On my way, I've arrived, the checklist (chemical readings and other numbers go in number items), an After photo, then Complete visit.
  • Maintenance visits for customers on a membership are created as jobs ahead of their due dates. Once the office schedules them, they show up on your schedule like any other stop.
  • Offline mode matters in rural areas. Everything queues and syncs later. See Work offline.

Cleaning

Cleaners use checklists most: one item per room or task, marked done as you go. Clock in at the first house and out at the last one. Before and After photos settle "was that done?" questions, and the customer's signature confirms the walk-through.
