Scheduling workflows by trade
How HVAC, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, remodeling, route-based and cleaning companies typically schedule and dispatch in Homeforce.
How a visit books depends on its job type, not your trade. Each job type is a Service call (a tech in an arrival window), a Multi-day crew job (a crew for full days) or a Project with phases. You set this in Settings → Job types & modes, and the same company can mix all three. Here's how different trades usually put that together.
HVAC & plumbing
Most work is service calls booked in an arrival window. Homeforce starts HVAC companies with types like AC Repair and AC Tune-Up, and plumbers with Plumbing Repair, Drain Cleaning and Water Heater Service.
- The office books calls with Book a call or New appointment, and drags the rest from Unscheduled on the dispatch board.
- Give techs skills (like
hvacorplumbing) in Settings → Techs & crews so AI Suggest and online booking only offer qualified techs. - Replacement quotes (System Replacement Estimate) book as sales appointments with a comfort advisor. A System Installation is a crew job that's usually quoted first.
- Tune-ups from service agreements come from Memberships.
Electrical
Repairs are service calls; bigger work like a Panel Upgrade is a one-day crew job that needs an estimate first. Use Capacity on the dispatch board to see who has room before promising a same-day call.
Painting
Painting estimates book as exact-time sales appointments. Interior and Exterior Repaints start as projects of 5 and 10 days, booked in crew days on the crew board. Mark exterior work Weather sensitive so it shows on the Weather page.
Roofing
A Roof Inspection books as a sales appointment, Roof Repair as a service call, and a Re-Roof as a three-day crew job. Use the crew board to keep crews and equipment from overlapping, and the Weather page to push tear-off days when rain is coming.
Remodeling & restoration
Most work runs as projects with phases. Book the walkthrough as an estimate appointment, then schedule crews for each phase from the crew board or with Add visit on the project, picking the phase. See Manage a project.
Landscaping, lawn, pool and pest (recurring routes)
Repeat service comes from memberships, which create the visits for you. On the dispatch board, use Map to check each tech's stops and Optimize routes to cut drive time while keeping promised windows. Mark outdoor job types Weather sensitive if rain stops the work.
Cleaning
Cleans are usually service calls with a set length. Book them with New appointment and pick Exact time when the customer expects you at a specific time. Use crews when a team goes together, so the whole team lands on the visit at once.
