Invoice a job or an approved estimate
Bill a finished job, or turn an approved estimate into the final invoice with any deposit already credited.
Most invoices start from work you've already done or sold. There are two ways in: from the job, or from the approved estimate.
From a job
- Open the job.
- Click Create invoice at the top. (The button says Create invoice once the work is done and nothing has been billed yet, and Invoice otherwise.) You can also click New invoice in the job's Invoices box.
- The customer and job are filled in. Add lines from the pricebook or with Custom line.
- Click Save draft or Save & send.
The invoice is linked to the job, so it shows in the job's Invoices box and counts toward the job's revenue in reports and job costing.
In the board view on the Jobs page, completed jobs that haven't been invoiced show a quick Invoice link.
From an approved estimate
When the customer approves an estimate, you can turn the option they chose straight into the final invoice.
- Open the approved estimate.
- Click Create invoice.
Homeforce copies every line from the selected option, along with its discount and tax rate, and opens the new invoice as a draft. Review it, then click Send.
If you took a deposit on the estimate, the amount paid shows as Deposit applied and comes off the balance due. If the deposit is paid after you create the final invoice, Homeforce applies it then. See Collect a deposit.
Projects
For projects billed in stages, use Bill progress on the project instead. See Bill a project in progress.
