Set up online payments and invoice defaults

Connect Stripe so customers can pay by card or bank, and set your sales tax, due dates and invoice terms.

Before customers can pay online, connect a Stripe account. Payments go straight to your Stripe account under your business name, and payouts land in your bank. Owners and admins handle these settings.

Connect Stripe

  1. Go to Settings → Payments.
  2. Under Payment processing, click Set up payments.
  3. Stripe's own sign-up opens. Have your EIN, bank account and an owner's details ready. It takes about 10 minutes.
  4. When you finish, Stripe sends you back to Homeforce and the account status updates.

The status next to Stripe account tells you where things stand:

  • Accepting payments: you're ready.
  • Setup incomplete: Stripe still needs something. Click Finish setup to continue where you left off. The line underneath says how many items Stripe needs.
  • Not set up: you haven't started.

If Stripe pauses your account, a red note explains why. Click Finish setup to fix it.

Choose your payout schedule

Under Payouts, pick Daily, Weekly or Manual. Manual holds your balance in Stripe until you pay out from Payments in the sidebar. See Get paid out.

Set sales tax and due dates

Go to Settings → Invoices & taxes.

  • Sales tax %: your combined state and local rate. It applies to taxable lines on every invoice.
  • Due (days after sending): how long customers have to pay. 0 means due on receipt. The due date is set when the invoice is created.

Go to Settings → Contract terms & documents. Under Invoice terms, fill in Payment terms and Invoice footer. Under Warranty, add your Workmanship warranty. They print at the bottom of every invoice and pay link.

Edit the messages customers get

Homeforce texts and emails the customer when you send an invoice, and emails a receipt when a payment comes in. To change the wording, go to Settings → Automated messages and look under Estimates & invoices.

Connect QuickBooks

If you keep your books in QuickBooks Online, connect it so invoices, payments and customers post automatically. The invoice page shows whether each invoice has synced. See QuickBooks Online.
