Build estimate options and pricing
Set up good, better and best options, apply discounts, understand tax, and require a deposit on approval.
Giving customers a choice closes more work. Each estimate can have several options. The customer picks one and approves it.
Options
New estimates start with Good, Better and Best options, with Better marked as recommended. You can change that default with Good / better / best by default in Settings → Estimates & proposals.
In the builder:
- Click an option's tab to edit it. Each tab shows the option's total.
- Click Option (with the plus sign) to add a blank one, or Duplicate to copy the current option and adjust it.
- Rename an option in the name box at the top of its card.
- Tick Recommended on the option you'd suggest. Only one option can be recommended, and it gets a Recommended badge on the proposal.
- Click the trash icon to delete an option. Every estimate keeps at least one.
Discounts
Each option has its own Option discount, entered as a dollar amount below its line items. The discount comes off before tax. On the proposal the customer sees "You save" with the amount.
Tax
Tax uses your company's Sales tax % from Settings → Invoices & taxes. The rate is saved on the estimate when you create it. Only lines with Tax ticked are taxed, and pricebook items bring their own taxable setting.
The Summary panel shows each option's Subtotal, Discount, Tax and total.
Deposits
Enter a Deposit % at the top of the builder to collect a deposit when the customer approves. The summary shows the deposit amount for each option. You can set a default in Settings → Estimates & proposals under Default deposit %.
When the customer approves:
- They see the deposit due next to their choice ("deposit today").
- Homeforce creates a deposit invoice for that amount and shows a Pay … deposit button right after they sign.
- When you later create the final invoice, paid deposits are credited so the customer isn't billed twice.
See Collect a deposit for taking the payment.
Financing
Options of $500 or more show an estimated "as low as" monthly payment, labeled Financing from in the summary. See Offer financing.
